There are certain types of seeds that can be fed by certain birds. Mostly, sunflower seeds are the most common of all the varieties of seeds that are being fed to the birds. These flowers come in two kinds: Black-oiled and black-striped seeds. The black-oiled seeds have thinner shells for the winter birds, while the black-striped seeds are fed to the sparrows and crows because they can break the thicker shell of these seeds. Before you provide the seeds, never open the shells and let the birds eat the whole seeds. Do not overfeed them.
